29 Mar Webinar: Pollution and Waste-to-Energy: Myth or Reality?
On Thursday 7 April, ESWET organises a webinar for an open discussion on Waste-to-Energy, Industrial Emissions and Pollution Prevention.
Waste-to-Energy plants are often under the microscope because of the emissions they generate. How are these emissions regulated? How are they measured? Are they harmful? And what do the plants do to prevent them?
All these questions, and many more, will be discussed in a webinar organised by ESWET on Thursday 7 April at 10:00 CET, with speakers from the European Commission, Polytechnic University of Milan, CEWEP and ESWET.
Anita Matic, Policy Officer at DG Environment of the European Commission will introduce the Industrial Emissions Directive and the latest news related to the monitoring of Waste-to-Energy plants. Leen de Bruycker, Technical Officer at CEWEP will discuss the recently-published report on Dioxins emissions by Waste-to-Energy plants.
These two presentations will be followed by the intervention of Giovanni Lonati, Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan, who will show a comparison between pollution from road traffic in the city centres of some Northern Italian towns and pollution from Waste-to-Energy plants.
The last two presentations, by Aurelie Moll and Ruediger Margraf, both members of the ESWET Technical Committee, will turn the view inside the Waste-to-Energy plant, focusing on the technologies that help prevent pollution, such as flue gas cleaning and emissions measurement.
At the end of the talks, there will be time for a Q&A session with all the speakers, where the audience will have the opportunity to take the floor and address the speakers with their questions.
Registrations are free with a capacity of 500 participants.
